     Ferndale Lodge #1588 was officially instituted on March 28, 1931, by Detroit Lodge #34, with sponsorship from Pontiac Lodge #810 and Royal Oak Lodge #1523. Since 1943, we have proudly called our current location on Woodward Avenue home. Our club room is open seven days a week and features a limited daily menu.
    Our Lodge played an instrumental role in helping to launch the iconic Woodward Dream Cruise, which passes directly in front of our building. This annual event has become a major fundraiser supporting the Elks Drug Awareness Program, the Elks National Foundation, and our Major Project. During the Cruise, we proudly host a hospitality room for police officers and volunteers who help ensure a safe and successful event.
     Ferndale #1588 has been recognized nationally for excellence in Elkdom. We are proud recipients of the All-American Lodge 5-Star Award from the Grand Lodge for ten consecutive years (2016–2025). Additionally, we were honored with the Gold Star Lodge designation from 2016 to 2023, and in both 2024 and 2025, we became a Platinum Star Lodge—a first in our history.
     In 2018, we earned 1st Place Nationally as the Fastest Growing Lodge in our division. We also previously received the 4-Star "All-American Lodge" distinction in 1993–1994. Our Lodge has achieved numerous accolades including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for our lodge bulletin, and state championship titles in both softball and darts.​
