Ferndale Elks Lodge #1588
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) is a fraternal order with nearly one million members across the United States and a proud 151-year history. With over 2,000 Lodges in local communities, the Elks are a network of service, fellowship, and patriotism dedicated to making a difference.
Founded in New York City on February 16, 1868 as the Jolly Corks by a group of entertainers and actors, the Order quickly grew to welcome members from all walks of life who shared a commitment to charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity.
We are non-political, non-sectarian, and strictly American. Membership is by invitation only, open to American citizens of good moral character, at least 21 years old, and who believe in God.
Our Mission
To inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity; to promote the welfare and happiness of our members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; and to serve the people and communities of the United States through benevolent programs—always living our motto: Elks Care. Elks Share.
What Programs Do We Offer?

Patriotic Programs – The Elks began the tradition of Flag Day (June 14th) in 1907, which Congress later made a national observance.
The Elks are neighbors helping neighbors—raising funds, volunteering time, and living out the values of fellowship and service that have defined our Order for over a century.
